Hondata S300 with faulty speed reading??
Hondata S300 with faulty speed reading??
I have a 90 CRX Si with a obd1 conversion. It has a "JDM" GSR swap with a cable transmission and it still uses the cable VSS. I've been having issues with the Hondata not being able to read the correct speed everytime the car is being tuned/on the dyno. Even during idle, the hondata would read that the speeds up to 100mph and bounce around from there and when it's rolling, the speed readings are still inaccurate.. this indicates that there's connection but it's just not reading correctly. I checked the wires (b16) and it seems intact with no abnormal wears. Am I missing something here? Any help would be greatly appreciated. This issue has kept the car from being able to engage the rev limiter which has proven to be a BIG distraction during a race.
Re: Hondata S300 with faulty speed reading??
It sounds liek there is a problem with the speedo itslef as it is what is generating the speed signal that is sent to the ECU. Perhaps your cluster is just faulty.

I'll swap in another cluster and I'll update this post with the results.
Re: Hondata S300 with faulty speed reading??
I have the same set up in my car. S300 v2 and I am still using the cable transmission. I have vss signal wired to b10 on po6 obd1 ecu vss signal input. My vehicle speed is showing up on my plx r500 and matching the cluster speed. I have signal at pin b10 on the ecu but it is not showin up on s manager software. I cannot confirm if vtec is engaging either as my engine is not properly run in. Can anyone help me with this issue. Or did you get your problem sorted maybe you could post your find?

Are you sure about that, the orange wire connects to B10 on the ECU and is T'd into the speedo B6 at the rear. The speedo uses the VSS to generate the correct speed.Spunkster wrote:It sounds liek there is a problem with the speedo itslef as it is what is generating the speed signal that is sent to the ECU. Oddly enough I'm having issues as well with the cluster showing the correct speed but datalog shows incorrect speeds. Going to check the wiring to the ECU but doubt that is the problem. Got a new VSS on the way to rule that out but b/c the speedo is indicating correct speed I don't believe it is the VSS nor wiring.
