Kpro v3 U4 burned pin HELP!!

Post by k2_0Chris »

Hello everyone,
i have a PND ecu with a kpro v3 installed. it was working fine until yesterday i was trying to start the car and it failed to start. then i noticed the led's on the k board were not lighting up with the ignition on so i removed the cover to find that the U4 chip had burned up. I wanted to know if anyone knew why this would occur and the best was to get it fixed. i pulled the board off and inspected behind it , it seems that only the top of it got the damage. also the serial number on the unit is 13343

U4 can be damaged from incorrect insertion of the KPro, laptop power supplies causing ground loops, reverse polarity, incorrect wiring or a bad ground. It usually takes a combination of those factors to damage the KPro.

Is this an engine swap? Have you relocated the battery? Is the master ground on the intake manifold ok?
