S300 V2 Digital input

Post by NeonPinHead »

I just recently upgraded my S300 to the version 2. I had my LC-1 connected to D12 (EGR) on my P28 it worked fine. I want to connect the LC-1 to the digital input for datalogging. The help file only refers to connecting it to the "N" Pin, There is nothing labeled "N" in the digital pin area just gnd, out, in+, In- and the other side says O, O, I+ ,I- If I connect the brown wire from the LC-1 to in-/I- I get no reading on digital0 sensor in smanager. I wish hondata was more specific about how to make these connections...

Hmm... I think I can answer my own question...

I need to connect the serial out from the LC-1 to the Digital input on the S300 right?

so ground would go to GND on the s300, receive would go to the out pin on the s300, and transmit would go to the in+ pin.

if this is correct I need a 2.5mm jack and solder some wires on then run it to a connector on the S300...

Make a single connection from the LC1 'Out' stereo plug to the s300 'IN-'. You could wire the stereo ground to the digital ground, but this is not necessary, and you need to make 100% sure you have the right wires identified before connecting anything to the digital ground, so I'd try it with the single connection first.

I connected the Tx wire from the LC-1 Serial out connector to the S300 N- pin and the ground from the LC-1 serial out to the S300 ground pin. I do not get any reading. What am I missing?

I found a diagram of the LC-1 serial connector stating that the tip of the 2.5mm stereo plug was Tx, the next was Rx, and the base was ground...

Try swaping RX and TX?

It's amazing that nobody knows exactly how to connect the lc-1 serial out to the s300 digital input...

This is what I got so far...

2.5mm connector - S300 digital pin
tip - out
middle - in-
base - GND

configured like this I finally got a reading but it's showing 6:1 AFR in smanager while the analog gauge shows 13:1 AFR. I connected the serial out to my pc and confirmed that the values are the same in logworks and the analog gauge...

just with the middle of the 2.5mm jack connected to IN- I get a reading in smanager but it's only half of what the analog gauge and logworks reads.

The middle is the one you need to connect to which is TX.

yes I got that far but with just the middle connected it reads half of what it should be. ex. if the analog gauge and logworks shows 14:1 afr, smanager shows 7:1 afr in the sensor overlay with it changed to digital 0 as the sensor overlay.

Any resolution to this? I attempted to make this function on my V2 board with ZERO luck. Seems that it is incompatable with Innovate sensors.

TX from cable to I- on S300 and GND to GND no responce /
Sensor does communicate through serial port using Logworks

We had it working here at the time of the original post (June 2012).

Maybe it has since been broken? There isn't much to hooking it up correctly and outside of Hondata I have only found one person who has had this functioning (PLM WB on the positive input), including the OP myself.

We can test it again, but we have not made any alterations in that area and I would expect it to work. It will take us a few weeks to be able to test this.
