Linear outputting temperature sensors

Post by RAIN H8R »

Im looking to run linear outputting sensors to datalog on a kpro 3. I know the auto meter pressure sending unit can be used, but is there a fluid temp sending unit that has a linear output? If so what brand? I am trying to avoid using the PLX products because I am low on space in my S2000.

Good question. Most temperature sensors are NTC thermistors, which have a non linear temperature to voltage curve. A PTC thermistor has a better curve, but even then is only linear over a portion of the range. You'll need a solid state temperature sensor, but I can't find any which are not fluid rated.

So, basically my only option is plx for fluid temperature sensors at this time. I emailed a few companies about this but nobody has anything.

Ive mentioned it in the request thread. But making the breakpoints more than 2 for programming would allow alot of user friendly options. Please consider this on future updates, preferably soon.
