hodata pcb has failed and dealer refuses to replace

Post by iamgod1 »

hi i have purchased a hondata s300j in February from your Australian dealer Justin at revzone now the s300j has stoped working and I have sent the pcb back to Justin he is now trying to tell me that the board has burnt up

the email I received
As the Modification to the ECU are imperative to the operation of the board and we did not perform these modifications. Having seen the photos of the board we can verify that steps in the process have been missed, J1 was not fitted.

We can't inspect the soldering on the PCB is up to the high standard required to ensure that all pins are connected on both sides of the PCB as is a common issue with these PCB assemblies.

We have noticed in the photo's supplied that the board has a white residue in sections that appear to be remains of moisture that have been in contact with the conformal coating. Any water damage is outside the scope of warranty replacement/repair.

We cannot warranty the board on its own as we did not install the unit in to the ECU it was being fitted. Inspection of the module shows no immediate damage to the circuitry however the header shows sign of heat damage related to high current flow, in turn may have damaged the on board processor. This kind of damage can only occur to the module from incorrect fitting and/or the modifications not being carried out correctly. The appearance of water contamination on the board raises concern and would also be the likely cause of damage to both the original ECU and the module in question.
We can send the S300 back to you, or send to Hondata USA for repair at your cost.

I have had full socketing done by an electronics repair company in my local location I have also been forced to lodge a compliant with the office of fair trade in hi state as I feel the product was faulty from the time I received it please help as I haven't been able to use my car for over a month now and I was assured by him it wouldn't fail

The dealer has not contacted us about this. What is the serial number on the s300 board?
