S300 Flex Fuel

Post by OneBadTurboCRV »

Hello,
Is there any interest or current development in adding timing or map blending features for the Flex Fuel support? I has been over a year since it was introduced and was just curious about this. I would (as well as others) LOVE to have this feature - well NEED this feature. Thank you for your time and help.

There are substantial changes for flex fuel in the next release.

On the new update, there is ignition compensation based on ethanol content. when you add say 7 degrees on 85% Ethanol content does that mean it adds 7 degrees advance globally to the entire ignition table like global fuel trim or just in open loop?

why not have ignition resolution like nitrous under parameters so that we can only add ignition at a specific RPM?

Ignition is global. There is no room in the ECU code for any more tables or code.

The problem with that is when under boost you are still adding timing across the board. Just RPM input isn't enough to properly account for this or take full advantage of E85. For a new board release, I was kind of expecting a bit more honestly. I am surprised that there are not two digital inputs as those of use that have 4 PLX EGT sensors and 4 PLX O2 sensors can not use a GM sensor. Thank goodness I already have a Zeitronix unit and can still use an ECU analog input. Kind of sucks for those that don't though.

On a side note, is there a reason that the advance protection features are not available on the V2 board?

I don't see any added security features as was stated in the latest SManager release?

Trying to see why I could possibly justify V3 since I have no interest in Bluetooth. Thanks for your time and help.

You can have both the ethanol sensor and the PLX digital inputs.

The v2 board works in a different way and does not communicate back to the ECU as the v3 does.

No security features were added - I can't see that in the V3 release info.

Thanks for the explanation. I read on the website that it says "additional security features" so I assumed that meant for V3. I didn't realize it was still a copy list from V2.

Is there a reason why the Advanced Protection won't work with V2?

In short, with the v2 S300 the ECU does not know what the analog inputs are and the s300 does not know what the ECU inputs are. For the v3 s300, the s300 knows the ECU inputs/sensors and can communicate with the ECU, so it can get the ECU to go into protection mode when the conditions are met. There's other things, like the v3 s300 processor running at twenty times the throughput of the v3 s300 processor, and the memory used to keep the ECU information, but that's the guts of it.
