ELD question
ELD question
I'm having a little problem with my battery voltage and I think it's b/c I'm using the ELD as my input for wideband and have it disabled in Smanager.
Basically had to change my alternator b/c the old one would not charge the battery with the engine running. Put the new one on and everything works fine. The only thing I noticed is that when I turn on my headlights the voltage starts to drop and stay around 12.5v when idling but when I drive it jumps up to 14.0-14.3 as it should run. When I turn the lights off the voltage stays at 14.0-14.3v at all times. Could this be because I have the ELD disabled b/c I'm using it for my wideband? I tried enabling the alternator control in the misc. tab and it didn't do anything. Just seems like it's not detecting the load on the electrical system. The fuel seems to stay correct but it just concerns me that the voltage is dropping that low. I have no start up issues or anything. Just wanted to see if I'm on the right track.
Thanks,
Ryan

Re: ELD question
Try disconnecting ALTC and see if that has any effect when the lights are on.
Re: ELD question
Is disconnection alternator control an option in S300 or is there something I need to physically disconnect? Thanks for the suggestion.Spunkster wrote:Try disconnecting ALTC and see if that has any effect when the lights are on.
Re: ELD question
I'm having a little trouble finding that wire at the ECU in my car. The vehicle is a 1990 Acura Integra (OBD0) and converted to OBD1 via jumper harness. On one OBD 0 pinout diagram I found shows 2 wires that are labeled as alternator (B5 and B14) and another pinout shows 1 wire being at B14. Where as, an OBD1 ECU pinout has ALTC specifically at pin A16. I didn't have a lot of time last night but I looked for B5 and saw it was an empty spot. I'll check to see if I have a B14 and follow it through the conversion harness and see if it goes to pin A16

Re: ELD question
Not sure what to do here. Seems like B5 is the ALTC on an OBD0 ECU but I don't have the wire in my stock 90 integra Harness. I can't seem to find a pinout on a obd0 PR4 ECU that came in my Integra. Soooo IDK if I need to maybe wire it in or something. I have an obd1 alternator. I'm assuming that the P28 is looking for that signal b/c the P28 has the pin for it at A16.
Re: ELD question
I will depin it, but I followed wire A16 back thru the jumper harness (from A16 OBD-1 side to B5 -OBD-0 side) and there is no wire hooked to B5 on my Integras wiring harness. So I'm assuming that is like it being unhooked. Maybe some OBD0 alternators don't use this wire and is why my car is not wired for it? This is a stock 90-91 Acura Integra harness. Is there a difference between obd1 and obd0 alternators? I think I have an obd 1 alternator. I know they plug up but is it possible they left added a wire to the obd1 unit?Spunkster wrote:http://www.hondata.com/help/smanager/ecuconnectors.htm
De-pin the OBD1 pin labeled ALTC
I used the pin out in the link above.
Any suggestions?
Re: ELD question
Since I don't have the ALTC (B5) wire to my ECU. Would it be safe to assume that my care relies on the ELD to kick in the alternator? I have my wideband hooked up to the ELD and the ELD disabled in Smanager. I'm going to unhook my wideband and hook up the ELD wire again and see what happens. If it works then I will just changed the input I'm using for wideband feedback.
Re: ELD question
ELD should not effect this.
Re: ELD question
Ok. I will have to rethink this I guess. Maybe I need to make sure the alternator is working properly. It's remanufactured unit from the parts store so I maybe something is wrong with it. I'm kind of at a lose that I don't have the ALTC wire in my harness.
