TPS Singal breaks away

Post by scared101 »

- Honda Civic Type R – ep3
- serial number of your K-Pro - 470
- ECU part number 37820-PRA-E11 and 966823-2Y23
- KManager version 3.1.2.0
- mods: injen cold air intake / RBC Manifold / Tegwia 4-2-1 RaceHeader/ Supersprint CatBack
- when and where you got the K-Pro – bought it second hand from the UK
- ground is on cylinder head

Hello,

i got a problem with my TPS Signal. See screenshot. When i keep the throttle control in a center position, after a few seconds or sometimes after 2-3 minutes, the signal breaks away.
I already replaced the TPS Sensor against a k-tuned and another sensor. I also tryed to put a new cable directly from the ECU to the TPS Sensor. Still the same problem.
When i measure directly at the tps sensor the voltage on Red/Black or Yellow/Blue it won´t break away. I only see it in the kmanager.

The main problem on that is, when i drive the car for 2 laps on the racetrack (Nuerburgring Nordschleife) after 1 ½ i dont get any TPS Singal anymore. Somehow this might has something to do with heat.
I tryed to re-create the problem by heating up the tps sensor and cables, but it didn´t worked out.

First of all i like to know why the tps signal breaks away even when the engine and everything else is cold.
Can the kpro somehow be damaged?

Also the kpro seems a little bit bend. See picture.

Thanks in advance!

You should loosen the screw that is pushing the board down so that the board is level. This will not cause a TPS issue you are describing.

What you are describing is intermittent, and sounds like either a TPS sensor issue, or a wiring fault. Have you tried your ECU in a known working vehicle?

I already loosed the screw, its getting a bit better but still a bit bend.

Yes it seems like a wiring or tps issue. Strange thing is when i put a oszi on the tps cables i don´t see the signal break away.

I will try to put the ecu in another car.

Can there be any other cable cause the failure? I only checked the 3 cables going to the tps sensor.

you should also download the most recent beta version of software and see if that has any effect as the software you are using is at leas a year or more old.

I openend the ECU and had a look at the backside. Is this kind of wiring normal?

Someone has installed the K-Pro themselves and not done a very good job. I would contact CPL Racing in the UK and have them take a look at this.
