Cranking goes to 65535 rpm and duty 100%...????

Post by sugarbear7979 »

I have a GSR turbo with 1000cc ID injectors in a 90 Si crx, stock map sensor, OBD2a distributor, S300. Ive been through all the wiring from ecu to dizzy and all the sensors...even tracing them through the jumper harness.

When I log cranking, the RPM stays at 0 and then jumps to 65535 RPM and duty cycle kicks up to 100% on the injectors.

In the datalog, you can see i eventually give it throttle and blip it a few times. At first, i thought the throttle is what caused it, but after i studied it closer you can see it doesnt happen at the same time the throttle is opened.

Any suggestions?

This is the exact same problem I'm having as this post here:

Any word on what the ^ problem was?

btw, no error codes either. Could this be a sensor or distributor problem or is this an ecu related problem?

Make sure the software is the latest version and check the wiring again. Has this car run before with the s300?

no the car hasnt run before. I initially thought the source of error was in the distributor. A lot detective work and i found the guy that originally had this problem. He replied this morning with:

" It was wiring to the dizzy that caused the problem. Org and white wires needed to be swapped with blue/grn and blue/yel if memory serves me. This was soooo long ago though!

Let me know if that helps

So I'll be checking that again. The car has never run with the modifications. The guy that initially had the car had the plug off the distributor which leads me to think that maybe those colors arent correct. It uses an obd2 distributor plug (least thats what came with it) but i had to re-pin the plug on the distributor. Maybe those arent correct? Ill probably have to take the dizzy apart just to verify at this point where the wires are going. i know for a fact that my wiring from ecu to harness side of distributor plug are correct (checked it 3 times at this point), its on the dizzy side im not sure about.
