P08 vs P30

Post by hondahatch »

I have a problem using a JDM P08-000 ECU. Created basemap using ROMEDITOR JDM P08. The S200 LED is flashing and ECU runs limp mode. On the the P08, did the J1 jumper and installed latch. I am sure the soldering is ok because when I plugged in an EPROM(with stock program)using the external PROM socket, the ECU ran fine and no check light.
Then I tried with a JDM P30-010, disable ELD, Knock sensor, Injector test, PA and the ECU ran a OK.

Is there anything I can do or check, why the P08 is not running ?
Is there any possibility related ECU thru' CN2 not communicating with S200. I check the wiring connection from CN2 pin 1-4 to the S200 connector (into S200) seems ok. I also check that for the P30 J4 jumper is on and have been running for the past weeks it is fine.

p08s seem troublesome :) i'll have something to add here after a little more time is invested this weekend.

More than likely there is a damaged track or somethhing else has been over looked in the ecu, as a p30 map will run a p08 ecu...the difference is that a few sensors need to be disabled.

What is the complete code from the side of the ecu?

P08 ECU code is 37820-P08-010
460-2003256

Microcontroller 66207 -- ROM Code is 243

Yes, you are right, one of the eyelet was damaged when I looked at it carefully. Repaired it and it works. CHECK LIGHT did not come ON normally. ECU runs good. However, when I shorted the service connector, CHECK LIGHT is permanently ON(no long and short blink at all). I would assume this is normal with no error codes. Can I assume, for CODE 0 ECU related problem, there should be no CHECK LIGHT at all when service connector shorted and CHECK LIGHT ON when service connector open(normally).

If, I enable 02 heater sensor (rest of sensors disabled in ROMEDITIOR OPTION). CHECK LIGHT ON normally, I shorted service connector, CHECK LIGHT BLINKS Code 41.

Why does P08 did not like the heated 02 and P30 is ok ?
Does the stock P08 and associated engines (D series) normally has heated o2 ?

I am running a B16A and OBDI wiring/harness for stock engine. 02 sensor should be heated (4 wire). Will the 02 reading be affected if I disable heating using P08 ?

Hondalogger shows lambda max AFR - 11.9 or below for all RPM range. I used Hondata ROMEDITOR to create P08 JDM stock standard map.

Is my 02 sensor bad, based on the measurement by Hondalogger ? Otherwise, should it be AFR 14.7 for low/medium load and AFR 12+ for high load. That is when using ROMEDITOR created P08 stock( ROM#201 shown)

p08 requires a very small (surface mount) transistor to be added for the feed back on the o2 heater. we do this on all of ours and have no heater code. or you can just delete the cel in the options of the editor and forget about it.

RMS

Can you tell me specific - location of transistor and type ?
Anything else like cap/resistor required ?

thanks

Q15 is located on the bottom of the board in a corner on the opposite end from the harness plug. R110 is present on all boards right next to it. i'm not sure of the value right off the top of my head, but i remember i researched the equivalent of the p28 O2 heater feedback transistor and ordered a surface mount version...worked fine.

we also discovered how to add iab control to the p08 and p30s last week (any small frame jdm obdI civic/'teg ecu for that matter) for a very small additional cost when socketing an ecu.
