Vehicle speed sensor Problem

Post by ricebizcuitz »

Hi I am in need of some help.

I have just had K-Pro installed on my car. I am running a K20a2 engine harness JDM Civic R ECU and the engine itself is a K20z1.
It was driving fine but after about 20miles it has brought up a VSS error code and wont go past 30mph.

I have checked the plug on the harness and when it is unplugged the pins read the following:
1. 5v
2. Signal 12v
3. Earth

When I plug the sensor in pin 1. looses 5v and goes to about .75 pin 2. is still at 12v

Is there anyway that I can disable the VSS in K manager and will it resolve this issue?

Thanks

Also am I right in saying that the older K20 engines used a different type speed sensor?
The one on my gearbox is a magnetic type it does not have teeth on the end of it.

If you have a 05-06 gear box it will not have a compatible speed sensor.

Y0ur best bet would be to swap the internals of yoru transmission into the case of an 02-04 so that the proper speed sensor can be used. A ring gear and a bear will have to be added and changed, but that is the easiest solution.

Without a speed signal VTEC and VTC will not function and it iwllnot know what gear you are in as well.

That's a real pain in the backside!

Is there no other way. What about.if i got a new ecu?

Is it a hard job swapping over the gearbox internals? I am in the UK so i would need a 02-04 civic type r gearbox?
