The difference between the 02-04 and 05 RSX is the ECU, vehicle wiring and transmission. The engine is the same, so using a 05 short block in an 02-04 RSX doesn't change anything.

i'm not sure if i'm reading it correctly, the 05 block is backwards compatible with 02-04 components starting from the 02-04 block wiring and all the way through to the 02-04ECU?
