I've had my FN2 custom tuned but I have found the accelerator to be more sensitive than it used to be which makes my gear change a bit bouncy. Can I de-tune the pedal a fraction using the Target Throttle Plate table (assuming that's what this table does??) or will this muck the whole tune up?
Same goes for vtec window, can I tweak it a bit lower without effecting the map or engine in a negative way? Currently it's at 4300 rpm.
Custom tuned but want to change a few things
Re: Custom tuned but want to change a few things
YOu can make changes to the throttle tables without affecting the rest of the tune, but changing hte VTEC window may cause problems especially if this was tuned on the dyno for maximum power already.
Re: Custom tuned but want to change a few things
Ok so I will just adjust the pedal a bit a lower RPMs and leave it at that.
I did try the Group N map but after some datalogging it was clear I was getting some knock, I think my tuner had to lower the ignition advance alot to get rid of the knock when he did my tune and the car only made 206bhp on the dyno after that where as I was expecting 215+. Any ideas as to why the car knocks when ignition advances? The fuel that was in was supposed to be 99ron.
Running back at stock and datalogging showed no knock so it's probably not false knock.

Re: Custom tuned but want to change a few things
The stock ECU does not record knock count, so datalogging will NEVER show any knock.FireBIade wrote:Running back at stock and datalogging showed no knock so it's probably not false knock.

I didn't know that I had just assumed returning the ECU to stock still had the same functionality. As I understand it ignition is where more power can be had, is that right?
Whats the general consensus on knock, a little is ok? If so how much would you say is a little, 1 per min that kind of thing?

Re: Custom tuned but want to change a few things
You can make more power sometimes by advancing the ignition, but there are limits to this and you me be at that threshold.
Ideally you should tune out any and all knock, however you may see a knock here and there and it may be a false reading.
