Setting VTEC Parameter

Post by hello »

Just a question so I can understand Kmanager better.

Help file says:
The VTEC window is a variable VTEC switch point based on engine speed and engine load. Usually you want the VTEC point to move higher with lighter engine load. The above screen shot shows VTEC switching at 5000 rpm when the manifold pressure is 89 kPa or above (which is close to full throttle), reducing in a linear fashion to 5800 rpm at 25 kPa manifold pressure.
Got my car tuned recently and was checking in my kmanager v3.1.6 then i found

vtec window:
lower boundary 4000rpm 70kpa
upper boundary 4500rpm 90kpa

im thinking this means if i was to keep throttle low (under 70kpa) and rev all the way to 8000rpm vtec wouldnt kick in right?
isnt upper boundary supposed to be set at much lower map reading e.g. 30kpa?

thanks for clarification.

You should talk to your tuner as this is set backwards. THe upper boundry should only come on at higher load (less vacuum).

Your upper boundry is the point at which the VTEC will activate even at part throttle.

Now that you've confirmed it, I'll talk to tuner.
Was just making sure of my guess.

Thanks!
