Info: I recently had my starter replaced, and since then it's been in and out of the shop that performed the replacement with intermittent starting issues. The first time, they didn't tighten down the bolt for the positive starter cable enough and it vibrated loose. The second time, the positive battery terminal was loose (I felt like a real asshole for not checking that). This time, they're claiming that the starter is defective.
However, the tech doing the replacement called me and mentioned it sounded like there was a relay clicking in the ECU when he turns the key. I didn't think the K series ECU had an internal starter relay. I did try replacing the starter relay in the fuse box, with no luck. I have Kpro, but I asked him to try to find another ECU to stick in the car to see if it'll turn over consistently. He said they 'might be able to find one'. My question is, are his thoughts valid?
Thanks in advance.
Does the K series ECU have an internal starter relay?
Re: Does the K series ECU have an internal starter relay?
There are no relays in the ECU. You are hearing the main relay clicking and it is due to a low battery.
