K-pro in limp mode and no connection

Post by Taylor! »

Hi,
Having trouble with a k-pro.

It was running fine on the basemap from the dealer, it was brought to me today to tune.

I connected to the laptop and downloaded the cal and everything was working fine including the datalogging!

When i sat back into the car i knocked the charger out of my laptop and it disconnected.

Since then it is in limp mode with solid CEL and 4k rpm limit!

The laptop will not recognise the usb being plugged in even in device manager!

Things i have tried:

Different USB cable.
Uninstalled and fresh install of K-manager.
Update USB drivers.
Plugged in an eCtune ecu to check laptop and USB port and it works fine.
Tried a different laptop.
Unplugged ecu for a few mins and disconnected battery for a few mins.

Any help would be much appreciated!

The car is a 01 JDM DC5 with intake, exhaust and RBC so nothing crazy!

What is the serial number on the K-Pro board inside the ECU? What is the serial number on the outside of the ECU case? From Help, About, what version of software are you using?

It's not a good idea to use cigarette lighter chargers as it can cause a grounding problem and can damage both the K-Pro and possible the ECU.

It appears one or both have been damaged.

Send and email to support <at> hondata.com with the following and you will be given further
instructions (also include a link to this thread):

I have this exact same problem!!! I was getting error codes and i tried to clear them by going to... Online...Tools...Erase ECU (Clear Security) Once the erase was a success. I lost access to the ECU and now i have a check engine light, I cannot access the ECU and i cannot get any readings from the OBD2 port. What's the e-mail to support??? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
