vtec, 2 step and rev limiter engauge too early

Post by orezeg »

i have an s300 in a non vtec ecu that has been equipped with vtec running a b16a that is mostly stock. ive had it for over a year with no issues until recently. i noticed that my vtec engaugment point, 2 step, and rev limiter engauge way too early, about 2000 rpm early. i checked my settings on my s300, all are still set correctly. i am running an msd billet distributor setup with external coil and ingnition driver. ive changed the cap , rotor and cap. checked all my grounds and i still have no idea on why this might be happening. please can anyone point me in the right direction? thank you for wasting your time and reading this post.

test if the problem occurs with the stock distributor.
we've seen here a lot problems with other distributors in the last months, where the problems were gone, when changed back to the stock distributor.

we're running here in germany setups with more than 550 or 600hp with the stock distributor on E85 with no problems.

for me it's a miricle, that people go to a MSD setup, where the stock setup just works fine.

best regards Lukas
