Tuning a Turbo Type-S with ITR Cams

Post by Some-1 »

I have a custom turbo kit (t3/t4) with a 3" exhaust, 3" custom exhaust (no cat) and of course the KPro. I'm using the 650cc greddy calibration (modified for 750cc). I do have ITR Cams and IM.

The car runs perfect, but I can feel power gaps at certain rpms.

I'm going to be tuning my car next week so here's a quick question...

What would be the main difference in tuning a regular turbo Type-S vs. a turbo Type-S with ITR Cams?

What is the difference between Type-S and Type-R cams in a turbo? The Type-R cams have more duration.

What is the difference in tuning? In theory turbos don't repsond as well to high overlap, but with the VTC you can pretty much control cam overlap, so the Type-R cams should work OK. You'll find out when the car is tuned. The only thing to watch is the EGT in case you're getting a lot of fuel burning in the exhaust manifold.

so I should expect lo cam angles when creating the composite cam table... right?

Is there isn't any advantage of having the type-r cam then?
