cold start issues

Post by blackcat »

Are there any other sensors or known issues that would cause me to have problems starting the car when it's cold or after the car has had time to cool down. I thought that maybe the coolant temp sensor of the intake temp sensor but they both seem to be working properly according to the service manual. Is it possible that they may be bad and that they just get over looked when I test them? Everything seems to point to the ecu tunning. What about the distributor? The car actually started doing this when the car was still stock and has persisted ever since. One day it just stopped starting right up like it always did. I'm ready to give up. I've replaced everything but the intake temp sensor and the distributor. Literally! I even tried and external coil. Are there any other components to the distributor that would cause this problem? The motor is a obdII d16y8 which was converted to obdI of coarse. Is it possible for the distributor to cause incorrect timming when cold because when I'm attempting to start the car cold it spins backwards when I let off the key as if the timming is too advanced.
