heatshield gasket, fits 2000 civic ex?

Post by wac013 »

i picked up a heatshield gasket a little while back and was told it would fit the stock d16y8 without any problem. took me several hours and 2 reinstallations to realize why there was a massive vacuum leak... the gasket isnt shaped correctly for the manifold!

the same thing goes for a lot of people claiming all the d16 jrsc manifolds will bolt right up to any d16. thats true, itll bolt up no problem, youll just have a gap big enough to suck small pebbles into. thats why jr has seperate kits and adapter kits for, say, a 96-98 sc package for a 99-00 civic.

anyway, hondata lists only the d16z6 as an application, and even a phone call to tech support claimed that the gasket *should* fit all d series motors. dunno about that one.

im about ready to install a jr supercharger and wanted to take care of the gasket at the same time if possible, but wanted to know if anybody else has done this (un)successfully or what.

or i guess im also asking is if the gasket is rated for boosted applications, because otherwise, im just not going to bother. should be fine right?

dude you're getting a leak because of the air injection. yea the gasket fits but on our model cars(99-00) there is a system that adds air to the fuel injectors while the engine is still cold.

look at the rectangular slots on this gasket...i bet the hondata you bought doesn't have them.
