s300 Unresponsive

Post by Vtec6000 »

A problem seems to have developed with a s300, basically car was tuned about 6 weeks ago with no issues and upon coming back for a tweak we cannot communicate with ecu at all. It does prompt hit F10 to datalog when ignition is turned on but it shows no values when you do datalog and I cannot download or upload a new calibration to ecu. Any ideas what could be the problem?

We lifted cover off ecu and everything looks ok, board is positioned correctly etc.

This sounds like a problem with the ECU socketing. Who socketed this ECU?

I do not know who socketed ecu, it's a couple of years old. It is a s300j installed into JDM P30. We had a look inside Ecu and everything looks ok. Anything in particular I should look for?

Go over all the solder joints, touch them up with more heat and solder and make sure that there are no cold joints.

Does the 4 pin header for datalogging need to be connected in order to download or upload to ecu? Reason I ask is, I've got a long case s300 socketed ecu which I could try the s300j in but obviously the 4 pin header is in different position so won't be able to connect that

Yes it needs to be connected. You could always make an extension with pins and wires for temporary testing.
