Aem failsafe hooked up to s300v2

Post by Dc4LsTeG »

So I have an s300v2 and I just purchased an aem water meth injection kit with failsafe kit. Now for the failsafe gauge kit it says I can wire it to the EMS using an analog+ and analog-. So Hondata supports this correct? And what exactly will it allow to happen with being wired to the EMS, it will allow my map to go into safe mode when the flow is incorrect instead of just showing it on the gauge also?

TIA

I'm sorry, but AEM does not post the instructions for this product on their website so I have no way of knowing what it does or how it does it. IT also does not list Hondata as supported by this gauge. Our own software has lean protection that can operate off of a wideband input signal.

It says it uses a 0-5v and you hook it up to the EMS using an analog+ and analog-. Is there a way to trigger a boost cut using the 0-5v based on voltage level?

Supercharged or turbocharged? You either control the boost controller with the AEM input or switch tables to a 'safe' ignition/fuel table.

So would this work?

" The failsafe has 3 outputs, a 0-5v a low side output (ground) and a high side output (+12v)

The 0-5v is for datalogging methanol flow. It sounds like this will work only on an AEM EMS or any EMS that has user configurable 0-5v inputs. Say if you wanted to datalog methanol flow in relation to rpm, load and boost pressure... you would use that output to do so

The failsafe uses the ground and +12v to trigger an alarm to the ecu. This is configurable in the failsafe software. Once you get your desired flow rates for a given pressure level you configure the alarm output. So in your case you would tell the failsafe unit to trigger the ground in the event of an alarm. Hook this ground output up to one of the S300s analog switch inputs. Go into the S300 and setup whatever input you used and make it so that when it gets a ground the switch = On.

Now you can assign this switch to do something like lower boost levels, retard timing or switch to a different map. In your case the simplest thing to do would be to have it lower boost pressure, however, in order to do this you need a boost solenoid that is being controlled by the S300. I would just have it drop boost pressure to whatever spring is in your wastegate... This is quick, simple and by far the safest thing to do.

So for example if you had, say, a 5 psi spring in your wastegate.. You would go into the switch configuration menu and simply tell the S300 that when this switch sees a completed ground to drop boost pressure to 5psi. It will continue to do this until the failsafe doesn't detect an alarm situation at which point the ground will open and boost pressure will return to normal.

Yes, use high/low boost and get it to switch to low boost with the AEM input.
