Well, I talked to my tech and he said it sounds like it could be the timing is off once I get that high in the rpm range. If this is the case would it have some type of knock? I have the knock flashing the mil so I would see it but I don't. I also don't see it in my datalogs. Also would I need to advance or retard the timing if it is off? DO I just try one way and if it worse, then try the other way. Or if it is better keep going? I know that if I have knock I need to retard the timing but I don't have a clue what to do here. Thanks for the help guys. I do plan on getting this tuned eventually. Probably next summer. But it is getting put up for winter so I just want to be able to sleep at night knowing it is okay in the garage.

Thanks,

Jamie

Did it do it with the old pulley? I stock map sensor would not read higher then 10.2psi. I would see the car go a hair lean on top, but when I changed the map sensor it was gone.

Well it didn't do it with the other pulley, but I thought it had to do with the amount of boost I was running. Another thing is that when the belt is slipping and I only hit around 9.xx psi it doesn't do it. Only right when I hit 10.1-10.2. I don't remeber if the stock map sensor can read that high or not. MAybe I should check that out. How much do the supprted aftermarket map sensors run? Will it function as the stock one does but get rid of this problem and be able to read higher, or does the car need tuned after this? Thanks for the help. This may be the answer.

The map sensor could very well be the issue. I know on mine when I would hit anything above like 12.5, it would do the same thing.

You can find the map sensors for about $60 if you look. hondata recommends the Motec one which are about $90.

It will function as stock would as long as the software is setup for it. It WILL need to be tuned with the new map sensor as it has a different "resolution".

I would say it is worth a shot. Worse case is you now have 28 psi support. :D

Well sounds good. I will try that I guess. I would love for Hondata to chime in and give their opinion though just for shits. I think I will start with the GM map sensor since the Kpro can support that and the motec. If it solves the problem then I might switch to the Motec if it is necessary. Where can I get the map sensor and is there more than one model? How do I know which one to get? Well hope this fixes it. Thanks guys.

Is this the JR kit for the Civic Si, or an RSX kit?

From the rumors I have been hearing, you may want to try a different injector than the RC 550, perhaps the 650's, or another brand of 550's.. We had the same sort of problem on a 2002 Si with the JRSC kit, Doug at Hondata just found out some interesting info regarding just the RC 550's, so maybe he will chime in here..

Well I just read that the map sensor reads fine up to 11 PSI, so I don't think that is the problem. I would love to here from Doug about the 550's Those are the ones I am running. If I need to get different ones Then I need to know sometime soon.

P.S.- It is the Rsx Type S kit.
