Engine overrun Stalling issue

When running large overlap and lift non vtec profiles with VTC, in the overrun zone as the throttle is lifted off and clutch depressed, engine stalls intermittently.

As the cam and ignition timing is locked out below 1000rpm there is no way to 'bump' up the ignition to prevent the engine from stalling.

Are there other strategies i can use to prevent the stalling issue?
