I'm on stock intake. Aftermarket free flowing air filter. strim was adding about 5% across the line. I changed the AFM Flow setting, and now the line stays right around zero.
But, when it switches to WOT, I'm logging a/f of about 11.0:1 (between 10.5 and 11.5).
Oddly, when in closed loop, and getting up near that same area (close to 4 AFM Volts, (3.8 technically) reading from the sensor) it's ok, or maybe a little lean.. getting +1 or +2 strims. But, WOT at just a little higher reading (4+v), as I said, I'm super rich.
From what I understand, tuning that AFM Flow setting is my only option. But, I'm getting conflicting results from the vehicle. Under one set of conditions (closed loop acceleration) I'm lean at close to 4v, and under another (full throttle/open loop) I'm super rich.
It would seem logical to edit the WOT tables, but from what I've read, that isn't really an option either.
Let me konw if you want to see any cals or logs, but I'm thinking this is common w/ MAF tunes, and someone might just have a quick answer for me.
Thanks a lot.
WOT/Open Loop very rich
Re: WOT/Open Loop very rich
If the closed loop is ok, but WOT is rich, then you need to change the WOT compensation tables. As stock they are super rich from 6000 rpm upwards. Don't make the WOT compensation table values any leaner than 12.5:1 in columns 8 and above, otherwise the ECU will never run in open loop.

Re: WOT/Open Loop very rich
Thank you. I'm sure I read that somewhere, but the part about the upper columns being the ones you don't change didn't sink in.
But, I've learned to watch the weather. It was a rainy day when I first tuned the afm flow and had it level after adding about 5% fuel. It was cold the day I was logging the full throttle runs and getting 11.0:1 a/f. Today (the next day) it's about 75degrees and dry, and my full throttle is hovering right around 12.38, which is what the tables say. My AFM Flow needs to be adjusted again though. Down 2% today, from the 5% I added when it was rainy, to a +3% from the starting point. I'll log my drives for the next couple of weeks to learn just how much the weather affects things.
I haven't made any changes, and full throttle is reading properly now, so I guess it wasn't an issue at all.

Re: WOT/Open Loop very rich
That's what the help file says (I wonder who wrote that :) ) but my observation on the CR-Z is that it's really more like 13.2. I had a "tapered" WOT table that went from 13.4 down to 12.8. It switched from Fuel Mode 2 (closed loop) to Fuel Mode 4 (open loop) at about 13.2. I have run sub 13 A/F WOT maps in Mode 4.Hondata wrote:If the closed loop is ok, but WOT is rich, then you need to change the WOT compensation tables. Someone said, in a post on this forum, it switches form closed loop to open loop when it thinks it can't reliably determine the A/F ratio. I just assumed Honda had adjusted that on the CR-Z due to better O2 sensors.
