hey, i could do with a hand for a base map for a b16a2 turbo, the specs will be as following :
Greddy Td05 18g Turbo at 0.5bar's
3 inch exhaust system
440 injectors
the b16a2 is standard
so i was wondering for a base map could i just use a stock map and add boost to it? and then tweak the AFR ?
Also me and a mate that knows far more than i do about this are going to have ago at mapping it our selves we have found a dyno we can rent, but there are a few things i'm wondering about.
- EGT does this give you a good idea of how you're ignition timing is ?
- also how does Vtec affect fuel values when on boost is it just a case of modifying the standard fuel map to accomadate the boost ?
- if my AFR is good all over the rev range even on stock ignition timing will the car run decently?
any other info would be awsome
cheers
Mally

no one willing to help me then ?
Re: B16a2 Turbo Base Map
You can always start from a stock calibration and begien your tuning from there.
There is more to uning than just good fuel tuning or a stock ignition map. You need to be able to determine if you have detonation or if the car is no longer making power with the settings you have. You need a minimum of a dyno and a wideband to do this.

is a dyno really needed ? i have a Wideband and EGT and my mate knows more about this than i do really just he doesn't speak french, i understand AFR and that it's just the ignition tables i don#t really understand how you determine what is good and what is bad.
this will by no means be a final map but just want to learn how to do it and have somthing safe just don't to blow my engine asthere is no tuners in my area capable of tuning a honda with a turbo on it lool.

of course you need a dyno, how else are you going to know if your making more power? or know the dead spots in your powerband?Mallyauto86 wrote:is a dyno really needed ? i have a Wideband and EGT and my mate knows more about this than i do really just he doesn't speak french, i understand AFR and that it's just the ignition tables i don#t really understand how you determine what is good and what is bad.

well having a wideband and egt guage is a good start but you still need a dyno to maximize on your tuning and engine capabilities.
to determine what's good and what bad you have to listen to your engine, listen for detonation (pinging or knocking coming from the engine).
here's a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Due7mkTH ... re=related
listen from 0:03 seconds onwards that light knocking is detonation but don't rely on your ears only try getting a knock sensor if your car isn't equipped with one already. If you hear detonation then you should retard ign. timing and if you dont you can advance.

i see well yeah i see we are hoping to try and do this without a dyno really .
my car has a knock sensor probs. thanks for the video link anyway.
anything else you guys can tell me about all this ?

also whats the condition if you engine? does it smoke?
the thing is since your not using a dyno there isnt much more advice i could give
