Advanced tuning DIY

Post by ddv_nk12 »

I have a 1994 Integra DB8 with B20VTEC in it and I recently got my S300 dyno and road tuned. However, my tuner did not use some of the features like switching off A/C at certain RPM, overall rev limiter and shift light RPM.

Now, if I were to get that done, I will have to come out with more money. I would like to try doing it myself.

1) But before that I just needed to know if it is possible to save whatever tuning has been done to my own laptop for future references. If yes, how do I do that?

2) Can I set the A/C to switch off by itself at certain RPM? Is it safe to do it without making a mess on what has my tuner done?

3) Can I set the overall rev limiter? Will it cause other things to not work properly as what my tuner has already done?

4) How about the shift light RPM? I understand that I can get the check light to show me when to shift?

5) Is it ok to change the VTEC point by myself?

6) Idling is at about 1300 RPM when the A/C is switched off and 1100 RPM when the A/C is switched on. I would like to be a little lower like 900-1000 RPM with the A/C switched on. Is it ok to do that without causing other problems? If yes, how to do it?

7) How to go about setting the launch control?

I am asking all of these as I am afraid that I will mess everything up. The car is running fine at the moment. I just would like to use the extra features that come with the S300. I know it would be easier for me to pay a tuner to do it for me but from what I have learned, Hondata is about its ease of use. Besides, I would like to use this to familiarize with it.

Please take note that I will be doing this myself without using a dyno machine. I think, though I could be wrong, this can be done without a dyno machine. So, it is okay to do it, right?

Pardon my noob-ness if any of my question is silly. It's not that I did not search before posting. I did. But mostly were too advanced for me to understand. I have read the user's manual which I found on the Net but that as well did not tell me what I needed to know. I have tried finding out every way I can think off and trust me, this is my last resort. So please help me if you can. If you know please find time to help me out here.

Thank you all for your patience.

The best thing to do would be to contact your tuner and have them email the calibration to you so that if you accidentally corrupt the calibration you have a backup.

Beyond that you can read the calibration from the eCU, but there is always a chance that it may be corrupted.

If you are unsure about making any changes then it would be best to discuss this with your tuner as just makign changes based on what you feel is better may actually damage your engine.

Thank you for your clarification. I just have another question.
Can I save my current calibrations to my laptop now when I connect the S300 to my laptop? How do I do that?

Thank you.

You can try to go to Online, and click Download, but this sometimes does not work. This is why it is recommended to get the calibration from your tuner.
