Good question I'm new to this too and would like to know also, but from what I understand is you run the car in open loop mode do some tuning to more or less get the afr where you want it to be so when you go closed loop the Ecu adjusts from your foundation but like I said I'm new to this as well

i belive you are right tune with open loop then when you finish return to closed loop this i do not know is that how is the proper min and max short term to set ??? as i read -30 and 30 is the best i am right ?i do not know why but in this site all ask different for s300 and noone answer i do not know why
Re: when set the s300 to closed loop and when to open
You should always do your tuning in open loop then switch to closed loop when done.

spunkster after a good research i read that many people set the car (a/f r )proper with open loop and when they tern to closed loop they are too lean so one guy help me (this guy tune car it knows what he doing )and told me that the best is to switch to closed loop and set min and max short term to 0 so ecu does not do any adjustments and tune your car when yoou finish just tern the min and max short term values to -30 and 30 this is the best i believe i try it to my car cause now i have a problem with my s300 (you can see the post if you want and if you can help me i want it thanks

on a NA, close loop should be on below 65Kpa,
tune the fuel so the STRIM is +/- 5%, and log your HO2 - should cross the axis 3 times a second
O2 swings will not be so good at prolonged idle HO2 temps drop below 600 Celcisus, and you wont get any O2 swing before your engine warms up from a cold start (20-45s) depending on ECT
