Onboard Datalogging - Which switch to use

Post by Todd »

I have an 02 RSX -S and a very early K-Pro #102. It is a great product and the K-Manager updates/upgrades have been very much appreciated.

I am getting ready to send it back and spend another $250, all so I can use the onboard datalogging. I have spent two or three hours looking for a descriptions of the switch choices and finding nothing. If I am about to cut one of my ECU wires, I would not mind knowing what they do.

Here is my plan (I think you will like this) the cruise control has been removed from my car, but the switch is still there. A convenient and illuminated switch, what could be better. When the light is on, I'm datalogging. I am thinking the E22 brake switch is the one to snip, but what does it do and what will it no longer do once cut? I think I understand what the E16 power steering switch does. How about the E29 switch?

Last question: Are there any plans to increase the onbaord capacity? memory is cheap, why not make it a gig or two.

You will have to figure out the pinout of that switch and then wire it to one of the inputs used for on-board datalogging.

The Brake input is just so that the ECU can see when the brakes are applied. It does nothing else. THe SCS input will cause the check engine light to come on.

The #2 pin (LT Green Wire) on the main cruise control switch has a switched 12v output. From there it goes to Pin#4 on the brake pedal position switch and the #13 pin on the cruise control unit. I think you would snip it and run it to E22.

I ran the wire from the cruise control switch to the ecu as mentioned avove and it works as planned. My K-Pro is not yet upgraded for onboard datalogging, but I can see the BKSW on-off radio button operating while I datalog with a laptop and switch the cruise control switch on and off.

Now all I need is a good window between races to send in my ECU. I could ship it Monday as long as I was sure to have it back by Friday. We have a Club Time Trials this weekend. I still wish the memory capacity was much greater.

Which wire on the ECU did you connect to to enable/disable the onboard datalogging?

hate to bring this back from the dead, but i'm confused on how to wire this up. I want to wire this in my 02 civic with k20a jdm. so i get e22 is the wire on ecu to use and i want to know something. do you cut the wire or run a split from it? then what position on the three prong switch do i put that on. i understand one is ground and the other will be power.

You have to cut the wire to the switch or every time you hit the brakes you will datalog.

Here is a link to the cruise control switch install. http://forums.clubrsx.com/showthread.php?t=714476
