Using a KPRO board from a PNF ECU on a PRA ECU with K100

Post by kinky_boy »

Hello,

please answer and advise for the following situation:

- I bought a used PRA ECU with K100 (for european civic type r). Need to make a map (street tune) according to my mods so i will need a kpro to do this.
- i have a friend with a PNF ECU with K-pro that is working fine on his car also european type r (with proper modifications to work on an EU type r)

Main Question: can i use his Kpro daughterboard on my PRA ECU motherboard to make the map?

Right now i am using my stock ECU(which will remain intact, just replace it with the new one modified for k100), but i want to ask you if my steps and following logic for changing the ecu and mapping the car is corect :

1. replace stock ecu with my new PRA Ecu motherboard + my friend KPRO board into his ecu case (with USB hole)
2. disable my imobiliser so i can use the new ecu on my car for mapping
3. right now on this pra ecu i bought is a map for jrsc+toda+cai, which is not my case (still NA). NOT going to start the car before upload a basemap.
4. start the car with the basemap and make the new MAP for my mods.
5. enable the imobiliser
6. put the new maped PRA ECU motherboard + my K100 in my case (without usb hole)
7. match the ecu with the keys and imobiliser (done by Honda). QUESTION - honda is updating only the ecu with the code already existing on the keys and imobiliser, right?
8. enjoy HONDATA !!!!

Thank you for your time and answer,
Razvan

The k100 should only be tuned by a authorized Hondata dealer. It is not recommended to try swapping parts areound to tune it yourself.

you are right Spunkster, but the tuning is not done by myself and i'm going to a profesional guy who had tuned a lot of honda engines and he has very good feedback in tuning community. He is more into B series honda engines but has done few EP3's and the results where impresive. I live in Romania and hondata dealers can be found only in other countries and the total cost is pretty expensive, so this is more of a budget solution but a really good one.

all what i'm interested is about hardware setup, so i want to be sure that the car is ok and needs only mapping when i'll go to him. Don't want to reach him and find out that something else is needed.

I have read a lot of threads on this forum before asking but never find a clear answer.
So, can you let me know the answer of my question?

Question: can i use Kpro daughterboard (from a PNF ECU) on my PRA ECU motherboard (which is having a K100) to make the map? i just want to know if there could be any incompability or is plug&play

thanks

You would be much better off just getting the K-Pro so you can properly tune the car yourself or your tuner can as well.

if buget wouldn't be a problem then i would have a Kpro, but K100 is all what i can afford at the moment, plus i don't want to tune the car my self or going to change the setup very often.
Send me the answer on PM if here is any issue.

thanks

what about using a Kpro board from a PRB ECU from a RSX type s (used on a Euro type r)?

as i said above these are the options and possibilities i have, so i'm trying to solve my problem within these conditions.

As per the first reply, we do not recommend swapping the kpro and k100 back and forward between two different ECUs.
