Kpro problem

My friend just got Hondata Kpro, he has tried Stock setting, Low octane reflash, and high octain reflash on his k20a3 civic si, and each time he starts the car after loading new program, the rpms surge to 1200-1300 rpm, and then drops down and the cars die, it sounds like shit and the motor shakes pretty violently. what could be wrong, my kpro has no problems what so ever, before and after my revhard turbo.. i am trying to help him, but i hav never experienced what he is goin through. Hondata, could it be a faulty programming? or what? because he had the flash for a year before that and his car ran perfect before he took his ecu out? please help!
