K20Z3 safe to run on RSX cold air?

Post by K20civic_HB »

With my setup, stock K20z3 w/ RBC (DBW removed for 70mm TB) and K-tuned 4-1 race header. Will the RSX K20A2 cold air 310cc Calibration be safe for me to drive on, atleast till I can get my setup tuned properly?

My Kmanager has a more then one RSX CAI calibration. There is

"2005 K20Z RSX w/ cold air intake - dyno tuned"

or

"K20a2 w/ cold air intake - dyno tuned"

which one is closer to the K20Z3?

Also do I need to enable lean protection? 1 or 2?

Thanks.

Either will work. Just don't place the engine under high load or high rpm before you get it tuned. Check that your oxygen sensor is working and that the short term fuel trims at cruise are reasonable (less than +-15 %).

Thanks.

I used the "K20a2 w/ cold air intake - dyno tuned". I havent driven it yet, just got it started and idling. The O2 sensor was reading around 0.63V at idle, short term fuel fuel trim was around +/- 4% at idle. I'm going to take it for a drive soon and do some datalogging.

I noticed in the ignition timing for the K20a2 CAI the "disable ignition retard when engine is cold" box is unchecked, but in the 2005 K20Z base map it is checked? Should I disable ignition retard or not?

ok so i'm having an issue with my throttle, the car idles just fine, however when I apply partial throttle it seems to surge and stumble in gear and when the clutch is in I can't hold the RPMS steady. They seem to bouce up and down.

I've recorded & attached a datalog I recorded when the car is in neutral and i'm applying partial throttle. Can somebody here take a look and help me? thanks

ok, thanks.

I opened kmanager, opened the K20A2 CAI kalibration that I'm use and turned on datalogging. Under parameters I went to Knock/TPS and scale TPS. when I hit read under min its set at -5%, when I push the throttle all the way down and hit read on maximum it reads 97.8%.

I uploaded the new values to the ECU and it seems to run good now.

One other thing I noticed, my speedo is reading, bit its incorrect. I have the Z3 transmission 02-04 harness and the Hybrid Racing speed converter. My dash displays in KPH, but its reading really low. I'm going much faster then the speedo is reading. It almost seems that its reading MPH, so when It feels like I'm doing 50kph my dash is only displaying 30 kph etc. I'm in Canada BTW, but my ECU came from the US (Hybrid Racing), could this be the reason? Is there a way to adjust this in my calibration?

could somebody take a look at my datalog for me? I recorded this while driving around briefly, I didn't rev it high enough for VTEC. I wasn't sure if it was safe to do so since my car is untuned.

I attached the calibration that I'm using as well.

thanks,
