Odd K pro problem

Post by Saint Matt »

Hi, I hope someone can help, it's a wierd problem but I'll try and explain as best I can.

My car is a 2001 JDM DC5 Integra Type R

Basically when I turn the ignition to position 2, the fuel pump will prime and the CEL will stay on. It will not let me read the codes, K manager won't acknowledge the ECU. If I start it is take a good few seconds to start and splutters into life with a 3k ish limit. Is this limp mode?

This happens pretty much every time, HOWEVER, I have just taken the ecu out and checked all the joints, put it back in and it worked great for about 2 hours (restarting about 5 or 6 times), then faulted again as soon as I switched it off and tried to restart after this time.

If I quickly cycle the ignition so that the fuel doesn't prime, it will start fine and I can datalog etc, no DTCs are stored. It's hard to diagnose it without any DTC's available, has anyone had a similar issue with this before?

Also, I have replaced the battery with a brand new one from Honda, and it has a good earth on the cylinder head.

Thanks in advance for any help

Matt

Try the ECU in a known good vehicle, there may be a wiring fault in the vehicle.

Sorry for the late reply, it's taken a while to get hold of a DC5 ECU to use, anyway the problem disappeared when I used it, so it;s definately the K-Pro'd ECU on this car. I'll try and get hole of a decent kal file to use as the one I have at the moment was locked by the previous owner, see if that makes a difference.
