Knock sensor?

Post by burmese434 »

Going to install a knock sensor and was wondering if I need a special one? Also I know you don't want any knock but is some ok?

That ECU does not support knock control. Installing a knock sensor will do nothing.

Man that sucks. I thought it did because if I don't disable it, it will throw a code? So what do I need to do to get one setup in my 96 cx hatch?

You must use an ECU that has the circuitry for knock control (P30, P72 or P61).

So P28 does not have circuitry for a knock sensor? If not this answers my question for why i keep setting a knock sensor code for my P28.

Is it possible to solder in the circuitry for knock control much like for the vtec control?

There is a list of OBD1 ECUs and what they support at http://www.hondata.com/ecus.html

No, you cannot add the circuitry needed, you must get a compatible ECU.
