I will start by apologizing if this was covered already or I'm posting in the wrong place.
I am planning on getting Flashpro for my 09 US Si. I was told that if I have my motor vtec at 4500rpm it will cause the motor to wear gaskets or something very fast because it's hard on the motor.
I do not plan on beating my car into the ground or racing it on a track but I do like to punch it occasionally. I have a K&N SRI and plan on exhaust and header in the not to distant future.
I just want to make sure changing things with Flashpro will not eventually cause damage to my car. By getting Flashpro is there anything I have to watch out for?
Enlighten me. Guidance is requested. Thank you.
flashpro k20z3 vtec 4500rpm eventualy cause motor issues?

I would take off the intake immedidately before you inadvertently cause engine damage. Also ax the idea of header and exhaust as they will accelerate engine wear and damage. It is arguable, but anything you do to your vehicle that is not stock were not in the original design plans from Honda and will be less than optimal for longevity.
A guy on another forum had warranty problems due to a SRI and they said it was likely becuase of the increased intake air temps and the lack of heat suppression that is inherent to SRI and he couldn't really deny that. So if you are worried about engine longevity and damage might want to look at that.
Never mind what I just said.......Do some research on exactly what vtec is and what is happening and then decide for yourself if lowering the vtec point is what you want.

Thanks. I do know what vtec is and generally how it works. Same goes for my motor. I'm not a Automotive Technician though so I know when to ask for guidance.
I know my intake will not effect anything catastrophically nor will it void my warranty. Plus I have the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act and K&N who will back me up on that. Slim chance a SRI on a daily driver will cause issues. (Besides the point.)
Heat soak is a touchy subject with many but I feel it is something competitive drivers should worry about not a daily driver. (Again, off topic.)
Just wanted to make sure running vtec so often would not "strain" or induce accelerated wear on the engine. I have only heard this from one source and I can't verify his credibility so I wont take it to heart but I will still be cautious.
Most of the Flahspro community only have good things to say. I see that as a good thing. I will definitely be cautious with my modifications. I will most likely be consulting these forums again.
Thank you.

Re: flashpro k20z3 vtec 4500rpm eventualy cause motor issues
if you read up on the flashpro it says the vtec engagement kicks in at 4500rpm only at wot if you are at part throttle and rev to 4500rpm it does not kick in so it only does it when you want to get on it. also hondata has been around for a long time they have been working with hondas for just a long they are the best tuning company out there hands down. look at any honda out there that is modified and they always have a flashpro or some type of reflash or hondata ecu. so when they set the vtec at this rpm its because they put in hours and hours of research and development.
