Nitrous Install question

Post by deadphishy »

OK, so i've been doing my reading about installing a Zex dry kit that i just picked up. The only problem is most of the install guides don't use the ZEX kit. My kit has the big purple "brain" with 3 simple wires. A ground, a positive, and a wire that goes to the TPS. I want to run this through my kpro and can't seem to figure out the modifications needed to the install. What i was thinking was the simple ground Arm on the ECU with a switch. Then running the TPS sensor wire right into the ecu like pin (E20 or E21), but i don't know if the Kpro ECU will be able to give out the same Voltige reading to fire as the TPS does. This kit came from an Older V6 mustang. I think the TPS on those cars read just under 5 volts at WOT. and .9X at closed.

anyone with experiance on this?

Thanks
Ryan

It would be best to not use the zex controller and just use the Hondata nitrous controls to activate and adjust the amount of fuel and the amount of timing retard you want.

The kit is a dry kit. So i will have the Kpro control the fuel and timing. I want the Kpro to activate the WOT switch built into the system. This "brain" unit doesn't do anything other then boost vacuum to the fuel rail ( a function i don't need) and spray, when the third wire sees over 4.5ish volts from the TPS.

I just want to know when the Kpro is activating the Nitrous what type of signal it sends out. is it a 12 volt signal? or will it be closer to the 5 volts that a TPS reads at WOT.

Based on what you have just said there is no reason to use the Zex control box as you can allow the K-Pro to fully control your nitrous including activation.

Please see the help file for complete details on the nitrous controls.

The nitrous solenoid is built into the Zex control unit. It has a relay built in that switches the Solenoid on when it sees the 4+ volts of the TPS.

How many Volts does the Kpro ecu send out to activate the relay that powers on the Nitrous solenoid.

Well i guess you don't even read the posts, since i've read the Help section a few times, and no where does it say what kind of Output signal the ECU will produce. And the first few responces to my questions were way off base. I know hondata is a busy company, but I would rather wait a few days for a quality answer, then get a quick one in a few hours.

Thanks for trying.

The ECU does not produce a voltage output. It recieves an input and activates the nitrous based on the conditions you have set in the software then gorunds an output you choose in the software to activate the relay.

For this reason you should just use a standard nitrous solenoid and a relay. You can then control the activation conditions for your own specific needs.

With the K-Pro there is no need for the Zex control box.
