Installing 2b trbls

Post by Cap_D »

I have an 97 civic EX D16Y8. I bought the hondata stage 2b and OBD2 to 1 harness in May. I have decided to install it in August. Now here's the trbl. We install the Wiring harness adapter, P28, and 2B. but the 2b was blinking and the engine light was solid. At that time we decided that I had an fried ECU and thats why the 2b was blink for the reason of loss of communication between both. I have replaced the ECU with an new one and acutally ran the ECU in my friends car before attempting to run it in mine.
So I installed it all and same condition the 2B has a blinking light and engine light is on?? could the 2B be broken??? the cord is fine and connected properly.

Any tech would be helpful
Thanks

I assume if you're swapping ECUs with your friend that he also has a Hondata setup. Have you tried your interface box with his ECU?

Yup thats basically it. we swaped ecu's all thats left that I can think of is the hondata 2b and the cord. The 2B was never used once and the connector cord fits snug on both ends. The rewritable Eprom is the second one was checked by my tuner 3 times and was good. Wire harness is solid as well with the ODB2 to 1 harness.

The 2B Blinks with a solid engine light. I'll try swaping hondata's tonight..If i can

Make sure that the ROM you are using to the correct one for the ECU.

I believe we found the problem. It seems that the ECU is clearing the Programable EPROM of its memory, causing the hondata to blink and pull a check engine light. So it will be a day before a new P28 comes into my hands.

Thanks guys

I have received my P28 back from Hondata, and I have attempted to install it again for the 4th time. We have tested the ECU on 2 of my friends cars and it works fine.

When I install it I recieved a check engine light again and the stage 2B was blinking.

This is what I have done
tried my Ecu in 2 of my friends rides -- works fine only in their car
Sent the ECU back to Hondata for them to check.
tried 2 different EPROMS.
Swaped my 2B for a 4B --it still blinks
Swaped the cord between hondata and ECU

All thats left is the OBD2 to OBD1 harness that I havent changed out. I donot see why, My stock ECU P2P runs fine and does not pull and engine code but with the P28 it does.

Any Ideas?? :?:
Thanks Rolland
