Faulty Hondata Boost Controller?
So, I have my Hondata boost controller turned on and using only 0% duty cycle and its spiking the boost well above 15+ psi when my wg spring is only 7 psi... With the bc turned off, its only around 9-10 psi... Whats going on here?
I am pretty sure all the wiring is right...
Faulty boost solenoid? Is there warranty on this?

No, 1% won't do anything either. You have to remember it's a mechanical assembly with mass and potentially some stiction, so you won't get any movement until up around 30-40% or so. Just experiment with it, you'll figure it out.

I am not trying to increase boost that much. Maybe +2-3 psi. If 0% duty is causing me 15+ psi, I hate to see what 30-40% duty does to it...
The reason I even tried using 0% duty is b/c the Hondata website said to do it:
"Connect the boost control solenoid, enable the ECU output and set the duty cycle to 0%. Record the boost level. Typically there should not be more than a 1 lb increase from the baseline.
Add 5% to the duty cycle and record the boost over the rev range. At around 20% duty cycle the boost level should start to increase with each run. Record the duty cycle and corresponding boost level. If the boost spikes or falls off, check the solenoid plumbing."

ok, thanks.. Tried the 15% and worked perfect.. Hit around 12 psi and no spikes... Thanks kdb, spunkster, and hondata for your help.
Now, I just gotta figure out how to setup boost by gear... LOL

It won't further increase boost at that point, because the wastegate isn't open at all. All the boost controller does is apply pressure/vacuum to the wastegate spring to make it open earlier/later.Axix23 wrote:I am running a 7 psi spring. I am trying to get my boost by gear setup in my kpro..
I got 2 questions: Under low/high boost control, what selection do I need to pick? (I am not running a external switch), so if I select "always on," does this mean, HIGH BOOST tables are always used?
And if I select "always off," does that mean LOW BOOST tables are always used?
And the duty vs pressure tables.. What values do I enter or should i leave it with the default values on?
