Boost Control Solenoid - Overboosting

Post by stupidjerry79 »

Would a slipping clutch cause overboosting?
B20 w/ Greddy Turbo Kit. S300, Hondata 4 bar map, Hondata Boost Control Solenoid (set to 90% duty cycle). Boost cut set at 12 psi.

In second gear, it runs hard, spiking at 11.8, in third gear, I hit boost cut, which is where I also think my clutch is slipping.

Any ideas?

I seems to hit boost cut if i floor it, but if i ease into it, i can run full boost. still having trouble dialing in only 10psi.

ideally, i want to run 10psi, and have my boost cut set at 12psi.

should i play around with the activation settings? perhaps have it open up earlier?

You need to lower the duty cycle. YOu may also have to use the boost by RPM and gear settings and have different duty cycle settings for different conditions.

What Psi spring do you have in your wastegate? Also your duty cycle is set to high. Maybe something is not setup right mechanically.

Whats funny is when i deactivate the boost control solenoid entirely, it still overboosts. I have to fully uninstall the BCS for it to function normally.

If i recall correctly, the MAC/Hondata BCS is designed for High Boost applications.

The GReddy turbo kit is preset to run 5-7psi. I only want to run 10psi. Can the BCS handle such a low increase?

BTW...after fully uninstalling the BSC and returning the vacuum hoses back to where they were, without changing anything else, I am now running conisistent 9.8psi and spikes at 11.3 on occasion. The only thing that has changed since I was running 5-7 PSI is the Hondata Map sensor, and my cat got hollowed out.

Would this have caused the changed?

My wastegate is internal, not external.
