Stumbles at WOT

Post by E-Pro »

A friend's car has problems where it seems to run into a wall when going WOT. I've attached a quick data log and the A/F ratios look really strange. The 02 sensor and the TPS also seem to be reading 0 a lot, might that be the source of the problem?

If the TPS is reading 0, the ECU thinks you have your foot off the gas and goes into fuel cutoff mode. Either the TPS is shot or the wiring's screwed up - fixing that will probably resolve the problem.

Well, if you were the ECU, running the engine hard, and then the throttle plate position read zero, what would you do? You'd kill all fuel except just enough to make it idle.
