first off, im new to this forum, and ECU tuning. well actually, ive never tuned an ECU. i just buy bolt ons like from my last motor (d16y8) and slap them on without tuning. i now have a k20a2 swapped into 2000 civic coupe running for a year and a half now with no problems, other than axles once in a while.
ive been using the JDM ECU for my swap this whole time, and just sent it to Hondata to get it Kpro'd. what i want to know is (and ive searched through atleast 10 pages of info before starting this thread) what kind of map will my car be running on when i recieve the ECU back? would it be reliable for a while?
i would get it tuned, but i asked the closest shop what they would charge, and they said most of their Kpro customers ended up paying $750 total, from $150/hr. and im not trying to spend a crap load of money again just for some tuning.
my mods til i upgrade for better parts:
-bone stock k20a2
-DC swap header
-my old d16y8 CAI cut in half, and fitted to the throttlebody curved toward the ground for cold air
-stock 00 civic EX exhaust.
-stock fuel rail to an AEM fuel pressure regulator ~55psi
-91 octane
i just would like to know how safe it would be to just recieve the ECU back, and straight plug it back in my car and drive like it is. or are there any maps i can use with someone using a cheap setup like i have? forgive my noobness.
Thanks in advance, Joe
Kpro Base map info needed
alright. maybe my question was too stupid for anyone to give advise. though it would really help since its my only car to get around with, to and from work.
i found someone around my neighborhood that uploaded the PRC stock calibration for now because i didnt have a laptop to do it myself. it fixed my CEL i got after plugging my ECU back in.
looks like im getting a complete tune, part throttle, full throttle, everything this week also by a guy flying down from florida. possibly a half hour tune he said. so thanks for no help. i was looking forward to this forum being more responsive and helpful for Kpro. i guess k20a.org will be my answers.

i saw what it says to do. but the thing is, i have a PRC kpro'd ECU, and i didnt see any listings for the PRC. then i also wasnt sure which calibration to upload since i have an intake and header, but stock exhaust, and that calibration wasnt up there.
but a friend gave me some stock ITR calibration, which im not sure what it will run like til i get it tuned this week.

"Just?" This worries me. It's like you got a date with a supermodel and you tell her you aren't going to spend any money on her. It's not looking promising. Though it's a worn-out phrase, you gotta pay to play. Don't mess with engines mods if you can't afford to tune it, either doing it yourself or paying someone. And not get answers spoon-fed to you is a hint that the info is out there and you need to do some more reading.joecivic wrote:...im not trying to spend a crap load of money again just for some tuning...
Mid-engine K24 turbo Locost, http://www.midlana.com
um ok.
well it was tuned on tuesday by Mase from Mase Engineering who flew down here for a few friends cars to get tuned. it was about $400 cheaper than anyone else quoted me for, and i know for a fact Mase would do a better job at tuning than anyone else around where i live. so i have a good tune, and it was cheap.
