Boost control by gear with different gear ratio's

Post by civicRSA »

Hi.
I'm running a FG2 ecu in my Euro CTR at the moment. I'll be boosting in a few weeks.
I am running the FG2 ecu for 2 reasons.

1. ERGlift for an accurate wideband input.
2. Boost control

I understand that boost by gear will not work for now because of my gear ratio's. Can I do anything to make it work? Or can you do anything to the software to make it work?

There are some guys that are changing there gears and ratios for aftermarket products. This is something that a lot of us will want in the future.

Boost by gear does work, I'm not sure what you are referring to.

I understand it does work but when changing gear ratio's other than the Si stock gear ratio's then boost by gear does not work.

For example some Si owners have changed their final drives and now boost by gear does not work.

Bit like the problem we had with cruise control in 6th gear with the Euro CTR.

If you change the gear ratios or final drive the gear selector sensor doesn't read properly. If the ECU has no idea what gear your in the BBG doesn't work.

So I'm confused....Spunkster says it works and soxfan says it doesn't. I'm boosted with BBG and would like the final drive upgrade but not if it will cause problems.

I think it works only on stock gear ratios.

This is what we need to make sure of. If I am correct then the ecu works out the gear by dividing speed by rpm.

If you change ratio's then this won't work.

Has there been any resolution to boost by gear with different gear ratios and final drives? This thread needed to be brought back from the dead.

I thought you could make boost by gear work when using different gearing by going under the calibration window and adjusting to the correct ratios and final drives.

Or are the ratio's that are displayed in the box just there for reference?

Boost by gear and the cruise control use different information to determine the gear so boost by gear at this time will not work with altered gear ratios.

Last time I checked I have BBG working in all 6 gears with altered gear ratios.
