timming at idle
timming at idle
Just recenlty spun my 1 and 4 rod bearing due to detonation possibly due to bad timming at full throttle. Was using a stage two on turbo charged d16y8 with forged internals not sleaved. Damage occured at 9.5psi on the dyno as it was being tuned. This was a retune after second rebuild because of piston slap problems casued by over cut bores. Stage two is being upgraded to s200 for this rebuild. I did notice that before the dyno runs that my timming at ilde after the motor was warm would not stay at 16 degrees which is what i was trying to set it at. It would fluctuate between 18 and 14 degrees on it's own. I thought that it was due to tunning which is why I took it back to be retuned. My question is does anyone know why my timming was not stable and is this the reason that I spun bearings. i literally cannot afford to damage my motor like this again so i need to find out if this is just bad tuning or do I have a probelm somwhere in the car possibly the hondata. Would appreciate any ideas that anyone might have.
I understand that but it's fluctuating right before my eyes. As I'm aiming the light at the marks on the pulley I watch the white line move back and forth. It wasn't like that before and I've never seen it like that on any other car. Also when it moves I can here lopes coming from the exhaust exactly when the timming moves. So I know that the timming moving like that is not normal otherwise it wouldn't do that.
