Warm Start-Up Problem...

Post by ShawnB86 »

I have a 1990 CRX with B18A , DRAG III turbo kit, converted to OBD1, Hondata s200b, DSM 450CC injectors, and Walbro 255 lph intank pump. Tuned by Ed at Balanced Performance in Sugar Hill, GA. I just got my car tuned last Wednesday. The problem is when I shut off my car and it is warm, if I go to start it up after not letting it sit for a while, it just won't start. When it doesn't start I usually don't hear the fuel pump prime or the main realy buzz. I know the wiring is good for the fuel pump, ortherwise why would it work sometimes? I also re-wired just to make sure. The thing is, it will start after a few tries and letting it sit for another couple minutes. This kind of sucks in my DD so please help. I also tried unplugging the evap. solenoid vavle, but that didn't help. Thanks guys!

Could be the ignition switch going bad. I'm going to have Ed do my dyno tuning too...how much was the going rate? I think he said something like $300 flat rate to tune the Hondata...is that what you paid?

I have a 90 Civic and when I first got it my Main Relay was bad. It's located under the dash above the hood opener.

The relay worked when it was cool, in the mornings or evenings but in the middle of the day when it was hot out the relay wouldn't work.

This may be the problem you are having. For my car it was bad enough so that the car would not start even after being out in the sun during the day even if I hadn't driven it.

I called my Honda dealer to get a new one and they said it's a common problem when the weather starts to warm up.

When you go to start it will it sometimes start for a second then die? Mine did that a few times.
