Kpro ecu need help

Post by winner007 »

I just purchased a PRB-A03 ECU with hondata k pro with usb and etc.. I currently have a 02-04 rsx-s. The guy that sold it to me has a 05 rsx-s engine, but he has a 04 rsx-s. Anyhow. I put it in my car and i don't feel v-tec at all. I am currently using the JDM ECU and i still feel v-tec. So is there anyways for me to get this working or do i have to sell it and get a 02-04 rsx-s ecu. I thought the PRB-A03 is from a 02-04 rsx-s. Is it the chip inside that matters or can i hookup the laptop and and set it to 02-04 application. Sorry i haven't hooked up the laptop before so i dunno, but my friend has 1 and told me u can do that. Hope someone here knows or tell me how to check. I think the 05 rsx-s has drive by wires so is not the same as the 02-04 rsx-s with the cable type. Hope someone can help thanx.

How do i check? I open the 4 screws of the ecu. then there is another screw that takes off the usb thing. Where is the ECU chip located inside the ecu. I don't want to break anything.

Do not remove anything from inside the ECU, just tell us the serial number on the K-Pro circuit board inside the ECU.

Yes you have to take the lid off, The seirla number is with the bar code on the actual K-Pro board.

That ECU has not been prepared by us for an 05-06, so it should be working in your car. It is possible that the calibration you are using has vtec optimised and you just don't feel it or it is disabled in the calibration for one reason or another. I would recommend taking it to the nearest Hondata dealer and have them check everything out for you.

Well i haven't hooked up the laptop yet so i dunno what setting their are to play with. So your saying this is not for 05-06 rsx-s. It does start the car no problem and drives np. Just no v-tec. If this is for the 05-06 rsx-s would it not run properly and not start because the throttle is not cable and is diff?

You need to look at your calibration, or start with a new one from File, new.

I have tried the new calibration today, My friend knows how to do it. The v-tec doesn't feel any power. It seems like we've heard a little bit of the v-tec kick in, but don't feel the power. My jdm ecu is much faster. Could this be the ecu problem. I think the ecu was meant for 05 rsx-s & up and they use jump by wires. So the ecu doesn't read the tps sensor properly. Well the cam sensor doesn't read properly when i put the kpro inside. It should be at 21 and mine say's -4. I dunno what that means, but my friend said that is not right. If the ecu chip is for 05 & up rsx-s so it won't work right? It starts up the car fine and idles fine also. Drives fine. Just no power because v-tec not kicking in. I have select all the application and even used my friend's file that he tuned. Same thing.
