I have a customer that put a crane 3 bar on his h22 turbo. I have not tuned a car with one of these. He told me it is just a rebadged GM 3 bar sensor.
Anyone tuned with one of these before - any tips? Will it even work?

Using a Crane 3 bar MAP sensor
In theory it will work, but I have heard horror stories from kids not using the GM 3 bar that Hondata sources from Motec. When I finally do upgrade to a 3 bar MAP sensor, I plan on forking over the money for the Motec unit and saving myself the headache.
On the flip side, I have heard of people having it work with other 3 bar MAPs.

Try the MAP sensor and see if it works. We source our MAP sensors from Motec, and have found that they are more consistent than generic GM sensors. In many cases people found that the GM 3 bar reads incorrectly when in boost. We make almost no money selling the Motec sensor but still strongly recommend using them over a GM as we have had no problems with them (as long as you wire them up correctly). Yes, we're aware that the Motec looks identical to the generic GM, but without comparing part numbers and spec sheets we're not sure what the actual differences are. The GM 2 bar and 3 bar are also identical.

Just what is the cost differential between your run-of-the-mill napa gm and the MOTEC, and the Crane, and the OEM from GM? Also, what is the availability? We are a Crane dealer so I will check the price tomorrow, as for the napa way they are right at $100 and take a day or two to come in.

well guys i can tell you to only buy the hondata sensor. if you can somehow match it to another part # that you think is the perfect match, then let us know.
there is a napa walking distance from me and we got 4 sensors from them and none worked. one was close, but the only one that gave no problems was the hondata.
btw, it's kind of an indicator you don't have a correct sensor when you are in rom editor and you connect to the ecu with ignition on, but not the engine, and map is showing boost already or significantly more vacuum than atmospheric pressure.
each of the napa sensors did this. plug in the hondata and it would show either the zero vacuum or the cell next to it. phoenix is about 1200 feet, so it made perfect sense.
the discount on the hondata unit sucks too, but like they said, they make nearly nothing on it. if you have a customer going over 11 psi, just add $100 to their price and get this map sensor.
