Knock sensor Error with S300 only

Post by jetspeedz »

I finally hooked up the S300 to the car and the software is amazing and i commend Hondata for the interface. I'm getting familiar with the features and i have lots of experience with other efi units this is just my first crack at the S300.

The car run just fine with the stock p72 ecu. When i put the S300 in the car and load the stock p72 map it idles and drives fine but throws the Knock sensor fault code. I can clear it but it will come back.

I'm putting a turbo on so im not worried b/c it will get a tune. My question is why is it the S300 throws the code and the oem p72 does not?

I'm sure if i disable it via the software it will be fine with stock timing now and the tuner will do all the timing tuning on the dyno but why it throws the code is what i would like to know since the motor has a knock sentsor in it and the obd1 harness has the right pin out.

thanks

If the ecu with the S300 is not a pr3/p30/p61/p72, it does not have the knock sensor circuitry, and you will need to disable the knock sensor.
