Constant Speed Signal, gear always 6th

Post by djcarbine »

2002 honda CRV ecu Kpro'd
Serial number - (will check when I have access, but it just got Kpro'd less than 3 months ago so very recent)
Kmanager version - 1.3.9
Engine is K20A3, using automatic transmission
Auto ECU is controlling transmission, Kpro ecu is controlling engine
Happens in ANY calibration, will use base K20a3 calibration has a reference.

No check engine lights at all, Kpro is working as intended except.....
Is there any way to set it up so when you use "constant speed signal" instead of VSS input that the ecu thinks you are in 1st gear instead of 6th? Its giving me some throttle tip in ignition retard issues

I can't use the VSS signal from the transmission because it is the high frequency type, and the auto trans is using the signal to control... the auto trans

When I set it to use the VSS signal (of which there is none) the MPH reads 0, gear 1, and the issue is gone. However, a check engine light will come on saying VSS signal error after a few miles of driving.

Is it possible to change the constant speed signal to be something other than ~50mph? Maybe 0 mph?

K-Pro is not designed for this so unfortunatley there is nothing we can do.

What vehicle platform is this on?

Is your speedometer working properly on the car?

This is on an 05-06 base auto
The VSS is being sent to the automatic ECU, and the Kpro ecu is controlling the engine

All other major sensors like coolant temp/iat I am running 2 of, so each ECU gets a good signal.

The base auto gives the same type of VSS signal that the 05-06 type-S gives out, so its not really compatible with the kpro ecu

For now I am running with the VSS enabled, and it throws a code for no VSS signal, but the ecu also "stays in first gear" so there is no tip in ignition retard. Choosing constant speed signal will make the ecu stay in 6th gear, and give really wild ignition retardation from idle throttle tip in. I'm talking about spikes down to -5* ignition. It makes starting from a stop... interesting to say the least

You could try to take and splice the signal from your Auto ECU Pin E26 and take it to pin A18 on the KPRO'd ecu and see if that give you your speed signal.

Problem solved, I didnt see the post above mine untill AFTER I figured it out

Base auto ECU uses the same high frequency VSS signal the 05/06 rsx manual trans uses

Ecu gets the signal from the VSS, and then (at least on the auto ecu) there is a "VSS out" pin that gives the normal signal used in the dash speedo + 02/04 rsx vss

As stated above, put the VSS out to VSS on the kpro ecu, and it works great.
