I don't have a hondata (they don't make one for my application 2001 civic - however there are rumors of a company working with hondata to offer a reflash of the ECU, admin?), but I need some tuning advice. The folks at Hondata, as well as their users, seem to know their stuff - so I have a question for you all!
Regarding running a piggyback system on an OBDII ECU (aka the RSX or Civc ECU), I've read that part throttle tuning is almost impossible due to the closed loop characteristics of the ECU. With Hondata's help, their ECUs can disable closed loop for tuning purposes. Due to the fact that no one makes an aftermarkte ECU for my car, I cannot. Is is possible to install an O2 simulator on the FIRST O2 sensor when attempting to tune an engine with an OBDII ECU, for boosted applications?
I've read some interesting info on here regarding the tuning of the engine, specifically disabling closed loop operation for tuning due to the long term fuel trims mucking things up. This is why I am wondering if just installing an O2 sim (which would simulate a stoch fuel mixture) when attempting to tune would alleviate a lot of issues?
Does anyone have any ideas about this? Any replies are appreciated...
Part throttle tuning on closed loop ECU's, will this work?
