Hi Guys, before I posted this thread I have done a search for some info and have gained some info. But perhaps someone would be kind enough to advise:
I run a S300 on my race EG civic, the engine is a B18C4 with ITR IM/TB,Pistons and Toda Spec C cams valve train etc with a B16 head, I purchased the engine(part built) from a racing buddy, I have had the engine dyno'd for the circuit and it is apparent that the CR is low for the cams. I am a clubman and don't have the funds to strip and rebuild to raise the CR. I have considered simply replacing the cams with ITR cams. However, I have just purchased an MFactory gear set and I am advised that as I will be 'living' in the Vtec more during a race, I may well find the motor easier to live with. I personally dont have any problems with the set up, but Im told the motor will be more 'drivable'.
So, now you have some back ground... to my question, before the recent dyno set up, i was advised to get a WB lambda sensor such as a'innovate Lm1' and use the 'Autotune' feature of the S300.
Now that the motor has been set up on the dyno:
Would there be any real benefit to me by buying the LM1, I am concerned that adding the 'variables' i may end up messing up the set up. Or is that a contradiction. I note that the 'Autotune' has a max deviation from the 'base mapp'.
The dyno tuner advised that due to the relatively low CR (approx) 11.5:1 for the Spec c cams, that he had to set the fuel very rich at idle, which is very noticable when the car is stationary.
I hope that the foregoing is a reasonable issue/concern to request advice.
Many thanks- Mike
UK Newbie- S300 & WB lambda sensor Question
Following on from my post, I found a post on the 'sensor' options, and found that the PLX model is recommended. Following a link on the PLX site and saw a small vid. It appears that the sensor may!! give me some extra power by fine tuning to AF mix.
Can anyone advise if this installation will be worth the cost etc..
Cheers Mike

You use the Hondata system to properly tune the vehicle. The PLX is used to read the AF mixture and then tune the Hondata accordingly.

Hi Spunkster, Thanks for your reply/advice.
I am I correct, that now that the motor has been 'mapped' that you advise to now instal a WB sensor and leave the the rest to the Hondata'Autotune' facility to fine tune the motor... and set up as per the link you sent?
What is you opinion on the issue relating to 'improved' hp as per the PLX video?
Bear in mind i'm not an engine tuner..(Im an Architect) Thanks

Hi Thanks again for your reply...Im afraid that I am now confused  Can you direct me to some instructions on how to set the AF correctly, if its not all ready??
As I am not a engine tuner, where will find the info on the Hondata system..I have looked at the 'site instruction manual' but im looking for the 'idiots guide' Cheers Mike
